In a message posted on X on Wednesday (March 25), he said the world is already weary of the ongoing conflict. Nevertheless, if there is any attempt to destroy or defeat Israel, Uganda will not remain silent and will stand by its side.
His remarks come at a time when tensions between Israel and Iran have escalated significantly. Attacks by the United States and Israel, followed by Iran’s retaliatory actions, have intensified instability across the region.
Earlier, Kainerugaba drew attention by announcing plans to build a statue in honor of Yonatan Netanyahu, an Israeli commando killed during the 1976 Entebbe airport hostage rescue operation. He was the brother of current Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Meanwhile, the Israel-Iran conflict has grown more intense since late February. Ongoing exchanges of airstrikes, drones, and missile attacks have led to rising casualties, with the impact spreading to neighboring countries.
Disruptions in shipping through the Strait of Hormuz have also put economic pressure on countries dependent on energy imports.
